Tours

The Spokane Symphony Associates sponsors fundraising tours to symphony music oriented destinations from time to time.

We have traveled to Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, New York City, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle. Our most recent venture was "Eckart's Germany" on May 29 - June 10, 2007. Twenty-nine music lovers took advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience Germany - its music, culture, cities and sites through the eyes of our own Spokane Symphony Music Director and Conductor Eckart Preu.

We were surrounded by beautiful music in various venues: a concert featuring Gregorian chants in a century’s old Cathedral in Speyer was breathtaking, the Semper Opera in Dresden was beautiful beyond words, a performance of the Dresden Boy’s Choir at the Kreuzkirche where Eckart had once sung lead vocals was unbelievable, and an absolutely fantastic performance of La Boheme at the National Theater in Munich will live in our memories...and that’s just four.

The sites along the River Elbe kept us clicking our cameras, as well as the Zwinger, the Green Vault, the Frauenkirche, Wartburg Castle, Weimar, The Kramer Bridge in Erfurt - Eckart’s hometown - and, did I mention Heidelberg and Neuschwanstein Castle? It could not have been better!

Stay tuned for future tour opportunities.
